Alice that sounds delicious! I will make toast with a little butter, then honey, so good.

Lathe I think that must be a fancy - like chocolate syrup in the milk. My daughter uses it to sweeten her coffee. I only use cream, but if I did use a sweetner in it would be honey.

Halva is good too. I love sesame-paste halva on toasted and buttered bread.

My husband, born in the U.S., but spent some of his childhood years in Athens taught me that. What he would do is when the honey jar was finished, and there is still a little left in there, but you really can't spoon it out, add milk, shake it up and have milk and honey, not only is it good, but you also don't have any waste!!

His mother was a good 1950's housewife who never let anything go to waste, so she knew all these tricks. Another trick from Greece, which delivers alot of nutrients, is to drink the water in which dandelion greens are boiled. Add a little salt and lots of lemon.

I never developed a taste for tahini, but I will admit that it is necessary in making a good hummus, and, indeed it makes the delicious Lenten treat called halva which, as you ofcourse know, is available in many supermarkets in the U.S. I am glad that you like it! It is very loved in Greece, Turkey and the Middle East...for Greeks, mostly at Lent.

i like the honey jar trick!! i always think how to eat those bit left lol...

Halava is tooo sweet but very yummy at Lent... that is soo true Alice! Like you are next door heehee...

there is something else we eat with tahini... it's thik brown sirop made of carob... very yummy and Lent matrieal too :D:D

Thomas eats halva on buttered toast or figs just about every morning for breakfast. Do you like wheat halva?

I drink tea using a green tea bag and black tea bag since I don't like the taste of green tea, with honey and lemon. I always rince the honey jar with hot water when it's empty, and use it to sweeten my tea. It keeps cholestoral under control, no meds necessary biggrin

There is a spread on the market that contains both peanut butter and chocolate. It's not bad.

Peanut butter and honey go well together.

Here is a treat which ByzanTN/Charles might like:

Buy one Lindt dark chocolate bar.
Buy peanut butter of your choice.
Add a bit of peanut butter to each square of chocolate before consuming. smile

I don't know if I'd drink all that your recipe calls for. It might nail the flu but also nail the patient. 1/3 cup of honey and 1/3 cup of lemon juice heated; put in a cup and add a 1/3 cup of whiskey just before starting to drink. Don't want to boil off the alcohol. wink

The trick is to make alot and use it as you need it. You don't boil out the alcohol because it would literally start a nasty fire in your kitchen. I still have some from Christmas. My choir members usually give it to me for the holidays.
