My heartfelt prayers for the successful foundation of at the very least one BC mission in southwest Oklahoma.
I do so love our Church and its mission in Tulsa - the Fellowship of St. Athanasius in the Chapel of the Theotokos.
If you've not been to a Divine Liturgy there, please try to make it if you in T-Town!

After the Divine Liturgy at St. Mark's in Norman, OK on Sep 27; I think the formation of a mission here is entirely possible. Latin Catholics are interested in attending an on going Byzantine Liturgy and I am going to try to wrangle together a list of Byzantine Catholics staioned at Ft. Sill with the help of the Catholic Chaplaincy.

The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated monthly beginning in January in the Oklahoma City/Norman area. Don't know if this will be a mission per se, but is an answer to many prayers. Details to it's location are not decided and the location could be on a rotating basis.

I hope this message finds you all well. My name is Harrison and I am theology graduate student at Ave Maria University in Florida, but I am originally from Oklahoma City. I joined this forum particularly because I stumbled upon this thread. I have started RCIA, but I have come to discover my heart really belongs to the East. I have several Protestant friends in Oklahoma who are also interested in Eastern Catholicism. Whenever any information is available about a Mission there I would love to know, pass it on, and do whatever I can to help.
Also, I saw the Chapel of the Theotokos mentioned. If anyone attends there, you might remember several students from Oral Roberts University attending a few times last winter - those were my friends and I.

Glad to meet you. As of January, the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated monthly in the OKC area. Where, and when? I still don't know. It seems that there are very few cannonical Byzantine Catholics in this area, all I know of are myself and my wife.
There at one time was a Ukraninan Catholic Church here but it is now Orthodox, and the other Byzantine Catholics that still live in the OKC area have gone to the Antiochian Orthodox Church. But, all is not lost; there seems to be a growing interest in the OKC area of cradle Latin Catholics for a Byzantine Liturgy.

Thank you all for the welcome,
My liturgical experience is quite scarce, I've participated in a few Divine Liturgies at the Chapel of the Theotokos in Tulsa, Oklahoma and at St. Paul's Antiochian Orthodox Church in Naples, Florida. There are several Ukrainian parishes about an hour away from me and one small Melkite parish in Miami. Also, next semester I will be attending a class by an Eastern Priest from North Port, Florida (St. Mary's) on Eastern Catholicism. My best friend here is from the Melkite parish in Washington DC, this is sadly my extent, but it has been enough to spark a deep interest.
As far as questions go, I would love to know what literature any of you would recommend to me. I have read nothing that is wholly Eastern, so I am sure there are many good and foundational works I am missing out on.

I want to help, let me know the best way possible. I know of a few people in OKC and a few in Tulsa that would be interested. Mainly FSSP Latin Catholics and Protestants who are interested in the Catholic faith. I'm sure some would just love to grab coffee and talk about the Faith. Would an email list be good? Let me know.
