Does anyone out there have (or know about) the Latin version of "the Instruction for Applying the Liturgical Prescriptions of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches"?

Must exist, mustn't it?

thanks

Isn't that the General Instruction of the Roman Missal?

Oh. I thought he meant the original Latin edition of the Liturgical Prescriptions. Everything Eastern must of course first be published in Latin.

Stuart:

Sorry, I thought he meant the Latin equivalent of the instruction he was seeking. If he meant the Latin document of the implementation of the Eastern Liturgical Prescriptions, I have to go with you--of what use would that be?

I'm under the impression that the Italian edition of that Instruction is both first and definitive.

Was it Italian? My bad. That being the case, there is no Latin version of the 1996 Instruction.

So, Herb, want to clarify (since we are all over the map here) what precisely you were wondering about? confused

Many years,

I AM actually looking for the Latin (and presumably authoritative) version of the 1966 Instruction.

Given that all things Vatican (presumably) have a Latin version (that is ultimately definitive and authoritative {even if not chronologically prior}) even the Eastern Code of Canons (ironically).

Some people (Latins mostly) will only (or better) accept a document as authoritative when one can give the latin "original". I'm afraid that Italian doesn't cut it for them. Indeed that it is not in Latin for them would seem to hint that it is less than official.

Help?

The Vatican website [vatican.va] provides it the document in Arabic, English, French, and Italian but not in Latin. That suggests that a Latin version is not available. It is very possible that there is no Latin version. It is common for Vatican publications to start in Italian (as the base text) and then to wind up in the official Latin, and then other languages.

ByzCath.org has the document in English at this link.
