Up until now the only Old-Rite prosphora seal on the market is available from that web-site in California which deals in quite a variety of prosphora seals (made of plastic).

Recently, thanks to a parishioner, I was able to commission a master wood-carver in Poland to make an Old-Rite prosphora seal for me. It reached me on Sunday, and has turned out beautifully.

I could probably have some more made, if anyone is interested.

Bless, Father,

I suspect that many would love to see a photo of it, oh technologically-challenged one biggrin

Many years,

Neil

They can't be done by the batch; this is delicate hand work and is accomplished one . . . by one ... by one.

I suppose that someone could invent some contraption to machine-produce prosphora seals in wood, but I would not consider that an improvement.

It may not be an improvement, but it most certainly can be done my modern, 6-DOF robotic milling machinery. One would first use a laser to scan all the contours of the prototype seal, then enter those contours into the milling machine, which would then drive a power router to carve out the seal. The result will be an identical match to the original, right down to any flaws in the hand-made version, so make sure you copy a very good one.

Sorry Fr Serge I misunderstood your first post about having more made to reflect that you wanted anyone in the plural.

In that case let me know details, costs, etc

The following link is for those of you who do not know what an Old-Rite prosphora seal looks:

I suppose I will learn this when I finally get my Old Rite Sluzhebnik, but does this prosphora seal represent the top or rear of the prosphora? If the top, what is the lamb, and how is it divided?

Alas - the Old Rite service books do not include the usual graphics. But I've found a nice illustration of the discarion with the Lamb and particles on it. Hope to include this in my English translation.

Hmm...I am guessing the bit with the cross forms the lamb, with the four arms of the cross forming the partitions?

Or am I totally off?
