When the Clintons occupied the White House, from what I remember reading, they hung multi-colored contraceptive devices on their Christmas Tree! How do these people get elected?

While I totally agree that the presence of Mao and a transvestite on a Christmas tree is very disturbing, it seems clear from the First Lady's comments that this was not the Obamas' doing. They sent out for groups of Americans to decorate ornaments. Clearly the Obamas cannot be held responsible for knowing what is etched or plastered on every single ornament.
So it seems this is a result of some crazy Americans loons; and of course we have plenty of them.
That said, now that these things are known to the public and (one would presume) to the President, it would seem to be the right thing to do for him to ask that these offensive pictures be taken off the tree.
Fr. Deacon, do you have a source to back up that statement? If true, that is one of the tackiest things I've ever heard tell of.

Abortion is more than just tacky, of course. It's genocidal. Anyway, pro-life and anti-life people do not fall cleanly on Democratic and Republican lines, as we all know. I generally identify myself as a pro-life Democrat, whereas many (most) of my friends through college were Republicans, but decidedly "pro-choice" - the most off-putting combination of all, at least to me! These ornaments are not surprising for this president. I saw a video of White House Communications Director Anita Dunn praising Mao. She praised him as one of her favorite political philosophers. She did not care that he murdered millions. But the Democrats are very pro-abortion and don't care about murdering millions of babies. I remember when Jessie Jackson said that Mary was a homeless mother with no options. Yes he was suggesting that if she had "choice" she might have murdered the Savior.
I agree with Alexis. There are a handful of pro-life Democrats. But most of them have been driven out of that party. The Democratic leadership said they are welcome to vote for "choice" but they are looked down for their stupidity in being pro-life. Republicans aren't perfect but pro-life Republicans outnumber pro-life Democrats by about 3 or 4 to 1. And the Republican party has a pro-life plank. Sad that so many people pretend to be pro-life and then elect pro-abortion Democrats. They are really pro-abortion and only fool themselves.

This thread is fast becoming a vehicle for generalizations labeling an entire body of Americans as tacky, stupid, and supportive of abortion - hardly the type of discussion one would hope to see on a Christian forum at this holy moment in time.
