OPPPSSSSS!!!

Hey Alex, don't take I-70 West, take I-70 East... sorry.... if I had been with Columbus, we'dve sailed off the edge and you'd still be in Europe!

You can tell the BOSS that she can go to the Mall and the Movies across the street unitl you're done with the ODPUST.

You may want to tell her that from the Office biggrin

It would nice to meet everyone though...

Dear Mark,

After reading all the comments on the indulgences etc., you can be sure that I'll make a point of attending the Vidpust, if not now, then next year . . . smile

Can you extend an invitation to Bob King as well?

I hope he doesn't mind me speaking of him when he's not right here.

Hopefully, this isn't on his "Verboten List" as well!

Alex,

I thought you'd were coming for the medovniki and holupki... biggrin

Actually, it's quite impressive to be at early Divine Liturgy on Monday (Labor Day) and watch the sun coming over the mountains at which the city of Uniontown rests.

How great are Your works Oh, Lord!!....

Dear Mark,

Do you mind if I download your comments to show to "She Who Must Be Obeyed?"

Sounds like "oodles" of joy and fun!

Does anyone know if there will be the traditional
and "token" Sunday morning Divine Liturgy in "Stara Slavan'skoho Jazyk" or is it "not being permitted" this year?? Anyone, Mark, Sharon, anyone know if the printed schedule of services is available yet? Last year the "token" Divine Liturgy in Church Slavonic was "heavily attended" and as I recall they ran out of Holy Eucharist. Just wandering.

SLAVA ISUSU CHRISTU!
SLAVA NA VIKI BOHU!

Hi U-C

I got my ECL on Monday the schedule was in there. There will Divine Liturgy in OCS on Sunday at 9:00 (maybe 9:30) with Bishop Andrew at the Pontifical Altar and then again at 7:00am on Monday morning at the Shrine Altar.

Hope this helps....

Mark'an,

Djakuju Krasna!

My father will soon be 86 yrs old and he like
the majority of Our People (Po-Nashemu) miss the Divine Liturgy the way it was taught to them back in Rusins'ka Schola. I feel bad for my Dad's generation as they RARELY EVER HEAR A DIVINE LITURGY IN THE CHURCH SLAVONIC langauge because "the powers that be" in the Pittsburgh Metropolia do not cherish it as "these childern of the immgrant generation" do!! See ya at Otpust/Odpust/Vidpust (which ever you prefer).
S'Bohom!!

Dear Friends,

I am so sorry that some of our posters here, in their zeal to be hyper-ritually correct, have cast the asperson on this Vidpust that it is somehow something for older people.

So I want to ask you, those of you here who are going, just how old are you?

If you don't want to give your age, could you indicate if you need a cane when you walk?

Do your bones creak in the morning?

Do you enjoy or look forward to a healthy sex life?

Are Vidpusts really only for the older types?

Alex,

Well I am going and I am 30. However, having actually attended several Otpusts I can say that like most Church affairs the elderly make up many of the pilgrims but there are also plenty of middle aged and young people. There are seperate programs for the teens and the children and many young families like my own will be in attendance.

Some complain that present Otpusts are not what they used to be, but our Church has shrunk and become more dispersed. The event is still a most prayer filled event and a great chance for old friends seperated by distance to come together. It is also more Byzantine than in the past Matins and Vespers are celebrated as well as the Akathist. Although, I think we are still having Supplication to the Holy Eucharist with Moleben to Jesus, Lover of Mankind and procession this year. smile

If you can make it please come. I will be definetly be there Friday and Saturday evening and possibly Sunday and Monday as well.

In Christ,
Lance

Hi Alex!

Well, I turned 47 in July. I've been attending this particular OTPUST yearly since I was 18.

Yes, I creak when I walk and I have pain in my knees( from years of folk dancing and rehearshals on concrete).

You should have seen it the year my knee locked and I couldn't stand up at the OTPUST.

I've seen more and more young families at this OTPUST and I see fewer and fewer "old" people.

I know there have been buses that come down from Canada for this OTPUST. Maybe we'll see your bus, eh???

Dear Lance and Mark,

Well, it is great that young folk like you are attending and that the whole event is well-attended by the young.

But, for heavens' sake, whatever you do, don't tell them the real meaning of "Vidpust" in connection with "indulgences."

You just never know who has been reading Meyendorff or who has attended classes at St Vlad's Seminary!

God bless!

I will be 42 come the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy & Lifegiving Cross, and I will be attending with a young man who will be 9 months old that Sunday.

I don't creak. In order to hold a cane I'd have to let go of the stroller, and as anybody who has ever been to MOUNT St. Macrina will tell you, that's not a good idea. Oh - and these grey hairs? I've earned EVERY ONE OF THEM!

Ung, Enjoy the Slavonic Liturgy on Sunday. I sure do - it's well done, well attended by folks who choose to be there, and NOT the only liturgical opportunity of the day. I plan to be in the gag that helps sing it. I also plan to enjoy all the English services. I grew up a Jew, praying in a language I didn't really understand. It's lovely to be able to pray & praise God in words I do understand.

See y'all there.

Sorry "ya all" feel that way, but I have yet to see "the young" show up for make a truely spiritual "Otpust" because today's "yoots" have too many other secular activies that get in their way of attending such "Otpusts". All you Bzantine Catholic "Yoots" prove me wrong and start making you selves known and seen. Haven't seen too many of "yoots" show up at anything except a few Sunday obligations! Sorry!

I'm sorry that the Slavonic Liturgy is on Sunday morning, as that is the morning I can't really attend. Is that the only Slavonic Liturgy?
