Can anyone suggest a good website (or websites) for buying Eastern Catholic/Orthodox books, icons, etc.?

Right in the DC area is the Icon and Book Service, located on Quincy Street off Michigan Avenue near Catholic University. Their website is here. [stores.homestead.com]

John, the bookstore manager at Antiochian Village first introduced me to Alexandra International [alexandraint.net] .

I have purchased many Icons through their web site and found them to be of excellent quality yet very reasonably priced.

I was going to do a “Top Ten” list, but both the internet and my cold fingers seem sluggish today, and work beckons (whines loudly, actually). So here are some quick picks:

Holy Trinity Monastery [jordanville.org]. Publishes Orthodox Life, numerous books. Offers many icons.

The Hermitage of the Holy Cross [holycross-hermitage.com] has an Online Kiosk. Books, icons, recordings. Lots of good stuff.

Church of the Nativity, in Erie, Pennsylvania. Publishes the Old Orthodox Prayer Book. Main church website here [churchofthenativity.net]. Direct link to the bookstore here [securehost85.hrwebservices.net].

ArchAngelsBooks.com [archangelsbooks.com]. Book supplier for the Orthodox Pastoral School [orthodoxtheologicalschool.org] of the Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America, Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

The Orthodox English Trust [orthodoxengland.org.uk], at the website of Orthodox England [orthodoxengland.org.uk]. Publishes a few specialized items, mainly on the Orthodox faith in England.

I have also had good experiences with Eastern Christian Supply [easternchristiansupply.biz], but I can’t seem to get their website to load today.

I use Eastern Christian Supply a lot for galloon and such, very good, and it is owned by an Orthodox priest who is very helpful. I tried loading the site and it did take a bit, it is usually very quick. Though they may be working on it, if you have not been to it for a while, he has a new store, very elaborate.

I tried using Istok in Russia, but they take too long, and I didn't think the galloon was as nice. However, that may have just been the selection I was making. Istok [istok.net]

I checked out that site, it is nice. I love the book shop at the Antiochian Village.

tscripa,

Eastern Christian Publications, located in Fairfax, VA has a large supply of books and other publications available online (we have no bookstore) at www.ecpubs.com [ecpubs.com], many which are from Eastern Catholic sources as well as Eastern Orthodox. We also offer a wide range of media material (CD an DVD) through an online catalog at www.olconference.com. [olconference.com.]

There is also Conciliar Press [conciliarpress.com], from which I have had some very good service.

But you probably already knew about them.

The Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese has an extensive on-line service available at this link: http://www.orthodoxgoods.com/
While there, check out the main website with its many links!

Wow! Thanks, everybody. I'll definitely check out those sites, and next time I'm near D.C.--which is fairly often as my in-laws live up that way--I'll try to check out the Icon and Book Service. Many thanks to you all.
