Hello:

I have a router security question that perhaps someone can help me with.

The computers that are being used are set up as follows. 1 laptop<wireless>running Fedora Linux, 1 Desktop<wired>running Mint 8 Linux, 1 laptop<wireless>running Windows XP.

My Internet connection is provided by a WiFi network and the modem has a firewall which is enabled which is in turn wired via Ethernet cable to the wireless router. The routers firewall is switched on as well. This is slowing down the connection but I am so paranoid I am not sure I want to only rely on the modem firewall. When in doubt sand bag everything you can. (-; What are your thoughts on this?

PS When the modem is pinged it does not show up and is in stealth mode but when I use the fire wall on the router it does show that it exists but the ports are closed. Seems a little strange to me as when I was using Road Runner the router worked in stealth mode. Thanks to anyone who responds.
