Celebrated this wonderful feast this morning and was educating the Latin laity about the liturgy of the Eastern Church and the celebration of St Blaise tomorrow.
Would like to know a little more about this feast and tomorrows feast.
Comments please!

What a fitting way to end this Feast.
Visited our seminary last night and celebrated vespers during which was included the Rite of Candidacy to the Priesthood.
We sang the Magnificat to the Kontakion of Liturgy of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Actually I was looking to see if there was a connection with the candles used to bless throats and the dikiri of an Eastern Bishop which St Blaise was.

Stephanos, I've been trying to figure out the origin of the dikiritrikiri for a few years now. They HAD to have a practical use way back in the day, but all I ever find is "the dikiri represents the two natures of Christ, the trikiri the Trinity." I can't believe that's the reason for a bishop to bless with tied-together lighted candles. Was it related to some kind of Roman custom or dress (like vestments are)? This puzzles me greatly.

I have no idea but I do know that formerly there was the Latin coustom of crossing the stole. This would be an interesting study.
