Vicnaja im pam'jat'! Memory Eternal! I am reminded that Tsar Boris of Bulgaria also perished in a plane crash towards the end of wwII.He had just returned from a meeting with Hitler.Though an ally of Hitler, Boris refused to hand over his Jews to the Nazis or to send troops to fight Russia. Many feel that the Nazis were behind his plane crash.Macedonia figured in WWII also, because the Nazis allowed Bulgaria to occupy part of it.

Dear Father Al,

A correction. Tsar Boris III did not die in a place crash. He dies from what was rumoured to be poison but of course, we never knew the truth. As to the role of the Tsar in saving the Jewish minority in Bulgaria, much more credit should be given to the general populace and the Church whose pressure on the government allowed the 50,000 odd Jews to be saved from the concentration camps.
