First I want to thank everyone for their prayers for my family.Things are slowly getting better.
If I may ask again for your help.I have my 97 year old mom who has dementia living with me.It has been very trying and I thought I could keep her here until the end,but every day is getting harder and harder.I am having trouble functioning and find it difficult to get through the day.She can't afford to go anywhere else and all the places that take Medicaid have a waiting list. Please pray for a solution to this problem.I don't know what to do.
Thank you so much.

Having dealt with a very similar situation, albeit involving an aunt and uncle, rather than a parent, I fully understand the frustration and feeling of helplessness that you describe.

My prayers for your situation and its swift resolution.

Praying for you and your family. It can be harder on the family then on the loved one that needs the care.

A couple of places to check with for help: (I was a case manager for the PA Area Agency on Ageing)

Catholic Charities should have a list of day care or caretaker rest resources. This is not full time but can give you a break when you need it.

Look into sharing a caretaker with another family. But make sure the person or group you use has all the proper paper work and references. Night time is sometimes better as you get your rest and mom does not realize that a stranger is in the house.

Most of all get on every list of the places you would be comfortable with the care of your mother ASAP. Even if you think you can still care for her for a period of time it is sometimes better to place them when space is available.

I understand exactly what you're going through having taken care of my aunt with dementia round the clock. Could you identify what part of Michigan you are in or send a PM? Perhaps we can come up with some connections/alternatives for you to pursue...

Thank you all for your prayers and support.Right now mom is in the hospital.Friday morning she fell and broke 2 ribs and she also has a bladder infection. It's been a tough week with her being in a strange environment with all the nurses and doctors trying to run tests and always doing something to her.Tuesday her heart rate and blood pressure were very high and they had trouble stabilizing her. They weren't sure she'd make it,but even at 96 moms a fighter.Thursday she is moving to a nursing home.I am worried about another change but know that is the only option. She hasn't eaten anything since Tuesday morning.I just pray we made the right decision where to send her.
Anna we are in Clinton Township. Thanks again!

We also went though a similar experience with my beloved aunt. It's very difficult. May you find God's peace within this storm.
