I was listening to a couple podcasts of "Light of the East" ..

And I find it interesting the way that Latin & Eastern Catholics believe the same things but view them with emphasis or articulate them in a different way. The Fr. from LotE specifically spoke about Latins who are enamored by the East, and encouraged them not to be so ready to jump from RC to EO. That the EC is place to show that EO can be in communion with Rome.
I liked that this wasn't an either/or or all/nothing proposition...

By the way, Dave, the host of "Light of the East", Fr. Thomas Loya, is (or was) an occasional poster on this forum...

I listen to it on my way to DL. smile

His wonderful sidekick Katie, formerly the ByzanTEEN, is also a poster here.

I love his approach to JPIIs Theology of the Body teaching, some of which you can hear here [catholicradiointernational.com]. It's so different, of course, from the way RCs teach on TOB. I borrowed a four(?) DVD set from my diocese which I didn't want to give back it was so good. It was Father speaking on TOB at a retreat for EC priests.

I enjoy light of the East, but I sometimes wonder why they bother to title the episodes, because very much of the time, the title topic is really only addressed in the last 10 minutes or so of an almost 30 minute program.

I can't completely speak for Fr. Tom, but I know that sometimes, we have a topic in mind for the show, we'll take notes and be ready to talk about it and then we just get so caught up with a topic we introduce earlier in the show and so we can't devote as much time to the original topic as we would have liked. The show is 30 minutes, but once you take out the time for the commercials, the intro and closing, we are really only left with about 11 minutes per half.
