Khristos Voskrese!

Upon some websurfing I came across this website and was about to leave thinking it was not at all what I was after, when the automatic music came on. What I assume are some of the monks singing the Paschal Sticherion commenced and took my breathe away.

What I love about this sound is that one can hear all the words and 'follow' the prayer.

FYI - it is the stricherion (pardon if I use incorrect terminology) in Church Slavonic.

They have links on their page to purchase some of their recordings, and I am going to buy "the Holy and Great Feast of Easter" hoping that the particular recording on the homepage is on it.

Check it out, and enjoy smile

He is truly Risen!

Michael,

Hope you had a blessed Pascha. Good to see a post from you and a link to a site that readily merits being reminded of periodically - wonderful music.

Many years,

Neil

The monastery at Chevetogne is a double-rite monastery. They maintain strictly both the Latin and Byzantine traditions of prayer, neither blending or short-cutting either. Their recordings are world-renowned. I have a copy of the Slavonic funeral service that was done by the monks there and it will take your breath away. The chants are other-worldly.
