O Lord, receive the soul of Your servant, the High Priest Basil, who has departed from this earthly place to repose in Your Bosom; lead his soul to rest in a place of light, happiness, and peace, where there is neither pain nor suffering, neither grief nor sighing, but only life everlasting. As You are a gracious God and the Lover of Mankind, remember his service to You and to Your people, and forgive him every sin he has committed by thought, or word, or deed, for there is not a man who lives and does not sin, for You alone are without sin and You are the Resurrection and the Life.
May the memory of Metropolitan Basil be eternal.
"One day all our ethnic traits ... will have disappeared. Time itself is seeing to this. And so we can not think of our communities as ethnic parishes, ... unless we wish to assure the death of our community."

Eternal memory. Eternal memory. Blessed repose and eternal memory.

" With the souls of the Just brought to perfection, * give rest, O Savior, to the soul of Your servant, * keeping him for the blessed life with You, * for You love mankind.
In the place of rest which is Yours, O Lord, * where all Your Saints repose, * give rest to the soul of Your servant * for You alone love mankind.
Glory be to the Father, * and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: * You are the God Who descended into the realm of Death * and ended the sorrow of the captives; * give rest, also to the soul of Your servant, O Lord.
Now and ever, * and forever. Amen. * O Virgin, the only pure and immaculate, * you gave birth to God. * Intercede for the salvation of the soul of your servant. "
All three services were well attended, with more priests and faithful each day. This morning, the cathedral was full to capacity, and beyond. The liturgy was prayerful and well conducted. Both the (Latin) Archbishop of Philadelphia and Bishop Nicholas of Johnstown spoke briefly at the end of the funeral service today; last night and this morning, Bishop Nicholas and an assistant were at a place of honor on the right side of the solea, on a seat before Metropolitan Basil's throne.
The final closing of the coffin and bearing out, attended by those priests and deacons ordained by the reposted Metropolitan, were particularly moving.
