Covenant House has long been a beacon of hope for young people on the streets from all over the country--runaways, troubled teens, abused teens, etc...saving them from the barracuda pimps and others who prey on their hunger, homelessness and vulnerability. Recently, they passed around an online petition to pass the International Megan's Law. When one thinks of how God's precious, vulnerable, trusting and innocent children are exploited into horrific sexual and labor slavery, as well as satanic pornography all around the world, one cannot help but rejoice in this law.

INTERNATIONAL MEGAN'S LAW - WE DID IT!

On Tuesday, August 27, the U.S. House of Representatives passed “International Megan’s Law” to protect kids worldwide from sexual predators.

Your voice was instrumental in making this happen. Over 30,000 Covenant House supporters signed our petition in favor of this legislation, and your calls to Nancy Pelosi’s office these past two weeks pushed Congress to act before the summer recess.

On the House floor, the bill’s sponsor Congressman Chris Smith specifically cited the Covenant House petition campaign as one of the reasons International Megan’s Law passed in the House.

The bill now goes to the Senate, where Rep. Smith expects it to pass quickly into law. We will of course keep you posted.

Thank you for believing with us that children should not be bought and sold and exploited on the streets. Thank you for believing with us that it is unacceptable that more than one million of the world’s children are trafficked for labor or sexual exploitation every year, including over 20,000 in the United States.

Because you made your voice heard, together we will protect more of our most vulnerable children, and bring those who buy and sell them to justice.

Rep Chris Smith is one of the few "public servants" in Congress who lives his faith.
May God strengthen him and grant him many blessed years! Where are all the journalists who say that there is no bipartisan cooperation?
