Peace in Our Lord Jesus Christ,

I'm not sure whether you are aware, but the Coptic Orthodox Church is really under attack in Egypt. Muslims are accusing our Pope of storing weapons of mass destruction in monasteries, and are spreading lies about our Holy Apostolic Church. This is absolutely nonsense! They are accusing him of terrorism, and very bad things. Of course the Church has filed lawsuits etc, but this cannot go on!!

As a sign of solidarity for our Pope, many Coptic Christians have changed their Facebook profile pics to that of His Holiness Patriarch Shenouda III.

However, I have a better idea:

Why not wear a cross and show it as a sign of solidarity with us?

If Catholics in the west all showed their crosses as a sign of solidarity as to what Christians in the Middle East are going through due to Islam, then not only will that be a sign of our spiritual unity as Christians, but we will also highlight the dangers of a society where Islam is the dominant religion.

This is important for the west.

Would you be willing to support us in this?

Do you think we can have a "Let your Crosses Show Day"?

I think if we could show solidarity when either of our Churches is suffering, this could only be good in God's eyes.

Please let me know what you think?

If we can organize this, it would be the greatest event of Evangelisation - without us even having to utter a word.

Brother I always wear a cross, but I will definately wear it for your intentions and those of Egypt.

One of our god children's mom is from Egypt. She came here many years ago. She always said she would rather raise her children - which are all grown now - in poverty in America, where they could celebrate their faith in Christ, than to raise them in Egypt. I guess her dad taught her about Christ, as he had to do so in secret. They are Coptic.

Christ is in our midst!!

I once received a small lapel cross in the mail with a simple request that I wear it in solidarity with persecuted Christians around the world and pray for them. What baffled me was that it came with no request for a donation and no return address. I've worn it ever since--some decade or more--and regularly pray for those persecuted for the Faith.

Thank you Bob and Pani Rose,

I really loved your comments.

It would be a great idea to organize a day of Christian Solidarity for the sake of the suffering members in the Body of Christ who are persecuted for the sake of their faith.

Its awful!

We also need a day for unification, and to express our faith.

I was extremely worried about the story of a Christian lady who worked for BA who was dismissed from her job because she was wearing a crucifix.

Would someone have been dismissed from their work if they were wearing a hijab??

I think we need a day where we make it known that Christians are also valuable members of western society. We cannot go on being treated like outcasts in the home of our forefathers.

Its hard to believe that we are doing this to our own faith.
