I understand the miraculous icon of Our Lady of the Sign (Kursk/Root)will be here in the Dallas area on Friday, Oct. 29 (civil calendar). It's visit will be hosted by St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in McKinney and will include akathist & moleben in honor of the Most Holy Mother of God.

A good, positive opportunity for Greek Catholics and Orthodox (and others as well) to pray and worship together.

Do you know if it is traveling around the US? And how I could find out the schedule? Specifically, if it might be coming to Arizona, New Mexico, or southern California?

The Kursk-Root icon is currently visiting parishes (both ROCOR and other Orthodox jurisdictions) within the diocese of Chicago and Mid-America, so Arizona, New Mexico, and California are not on the schedule for now.

I can tell you that the schedule [chicagodiocese.org] as currently posted on the diocesan website is NOT correct. I will ask if a corrected itinerary can be posted there.

I do know that after Texas (and possibly Arkansas), the icon will visit Oklahoma City and then be in Wichita, Kansas, on the evening of Tuesday, November 2, at the St. George Cathedral (Antiochian), where Bishop Basil will lead the service.

After the service in Wichita, the icon will then travel to the Kansas City area, where there will be an Akathist served on Wednesday, November 3, at 7:00 p.m.

The Akathist will be held at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, in Lenexa, Kansas. We hope that all the area clergy and faithful will be able to participate in this joyous event.

After that, the icon travels to Columbia and the St. Louis area.

I will post here if I can locate a more complete and correct schedule.

Michael
