I thought people might be interested to read the article on the recent Orthodox symposium held in Sofia, Bulgaria.

XP!

Dear All:

It is with great regret that I noted the use of the term "Uniatism" in the piece given the fact that it is generally regarded to have negative connotations.

Yours,

Dear Hal,

When a word in common usage becomes offensive, those who are offended must rise up and protest!

I suggest that a polite letter to the editor of that News Service might be in order from you and from many others of the Byzantine Catholic faith.

Such appropriate action is really the ONLY way the offensive term of 'uniate' will fall into oblivian and cease to be used by the Orthodox.

Just a suggestion! smile

Yours in Christ our Lord,
Alice

P.S. In all fairness, I do not think that most Orthodox who use it, do so consciously to offend those of your faith.
