Are there any updates on the happenings in Soufanieh, Damascus, Syria? I believe the Melkite Archbishop has given his blessing to the wonders that are going on there.

To add to the question, was anyone on this forum present at the Melkite convention in Seattle WA last summer to hear or even meet, Myrna Nazzour? If so, your account of the experience would be appreciated.

I haven't heard anything new of late. I do believe that our brother, Ghosty (from whom we haven't heard in a while) attended the Seattle Convention and, knowing him, I'll bet that he met Myrna. Perhaps he'll show up and post - or I may just have to PM and drag him out into the open air. It's been too long since he's visited anyway.
I had the pleasure of meeting Myrna some years ago, on her first visit to the US, of providing security for her visit to the Melkite Cathedral at that time, and of witnessing the flowing of oil from her hands. Not sure of the year without going back and researching, but it was a while ago. She was a very gentle, shy, and pleasant lady, whose spirituality was very evident to all.

No need to PM me, it seems I stopped in at an opportune time!  I was at the Convention (worked it, actually  ) and I did get to meet Myrna. It was a wonderful time, and though there was no oil flowing from her hands at the event she was everything that Neil describes. She was so humble and unassuming that I couldn't bring myself to get a picture of her with my infant daughter, though I thought it would be a nice treasure for her when she grew older. We did get to sit with her at the Divine Liturgy, and she led in a prayer of the Rosary at one point. She also, of course, gave an account of the events and talked about the need for unity, and she gave our mission a copy of the famous Icon which was a lovely gift that we cherish. It was a definite reminder that God does amazing things through very regular, if holy, people. She could really be any devout lady in your parish.  Peace and God bless!

I'm getting rather amazed at the number of folk who show up here after I muse about PM'ing them  Good to hear from you, my dear friend. Prayers that your family is well. It was a definite reminder that God does amazing things through very regular, if holy, people. She could really be any devout lady in your parish. How very true!
