Dear Friends,
EWTN is carrying the news story that Mother Teresa has cleared another hurdle in her canonization process.
The Church has recognized her virtues as "Heroic" which means she now has the title "Venerable Servant of God."
Catholic Hierarchs will meet on October 1st to discuss this further, the 80,000 pages of research on her writtend to date and they will also review a "miracle" attributed to her intercession with the view to officially affirming it as such.
Some say the Pope himself may attend. If the miracle is affirmed as such, Mother Teresa may be beatified as early as next year - truly a record-breaker in this respect as well.
Of Albanian background, Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, the Macedonian capital.
Venerable and God-bearing Mother Teresa of Calcutta - pray unto God for us!

I know that in Albania, many famillies, Catholic, Orthodox and even muslim, have a picture of her and a candle. I hope she will help me to have something that is important to me now, it's an Albanian miracle. I hope it will come true.

Mother Teresa will indeed take your prayer to the Lord. Back home in India, the newspapers' classified ads sections are always filled with small notices of thanks for prayers answered, in the form of small icons. Saint Mary the Mother of God, Saint Jude, Saint Gregorios of Parumala, and Mother Teresa are the most popular...and Mother Teresa's gaining ground fast.

Dear Friends, Robert Lentz's Bridge-Building icon site has a couple of what I think are excellent Eastern style icons of St Teresa of Calcutta. (No I'm not getting a discount for saying that.) The point about her unifying role is excellent and I think she is doing this insofar as people of different Christian and religious backgrounds are uniting in veneration of her. I've always believed that there will be Church unity when we have the same saints! (Shouldn't I be getting an award or something for such a profound statement as above? ). Alex

Dear Friends,
I had to share this story - again.
I sat in the chair Mother Teresa sat in while she spoke with a priest about outreach to the poor in Toronto one time.
The priest had a photo of Mother Teresa sitting in that grand old chair and so I felt very privileged to be where that Holy Person was.
He told me she had gotten sick because she not only identified with the poor of India - she ate what they ate and this is what gave her severe health problems.
