Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

This new year is not starting out a very healthy one for my husband and me.

After having to take off the most days in his life for any illness, with the dreaded influenza we contracted, he has barely been back to work for two weeks now, and an increasing discomfort he had this past week in his lower back/lower spine has now become debilitating. He didn't want to miss work yesterday despite the pain, but when I drove him to the train station and he got out he turned right back around because he could hardly walk. (over the counter pain killers are not helping at all)

The problem is that his commute is very long and difficult--first he takes a commuter train and then he has to switch to a subway. There are great distances of walking involved in between as well. Driving also may not be an option because when he tried to drive, the pain was too great to press the gas pedal!

So besides the pain, there is also the worry--because this is happening so soon after a prolonged illness.

If you can find it in your hearts, can you please say a prayer for my husband--that his debilitating back pain will be resolved quickly so that he can return to work? I will forever be grateful.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Humbly,
Alice

Alice,

Having faced much the same situation - of having had to take - in the very first months of the year, far more sick time than I have ever had to previously use in an entire year, (and that after already enduring a month long period of debilitating pain) I am extremely sympathetic to your husband's situation and pray earnestly that God give him relief and respite.

Prayers for him, that the cause of his pain be diagnosed and treated quickly and effectively, that his pain be relieved, that he be restored to the fullness of health, and that God grant him many years.

Lord, grant mercy to and heal Alice's husband. Take away this pain and grant him restored health so that he can return to work without such difficulty. Amen.

Dear Friends,

Your prayers have helped my husband immensely. He has a degenerated disc.
Thanks be to God, he was back at work yesterday, and was actually able to handle the commute.
He is taking prednisone which seems to be helping.
The specialist also prescribed a month of physical therapy for when he feels better.

Again--I thank you from the bottom of my heart. On Friday, he was *literally* unable to move or even speak much, because the pain was so intense!!

In Christ,
Alice

Hello Alice:

My prayers are with your husband. I don't think there is anything more miserable than back problems. Been there done that.

Thanks be to God he is back at work and handling the commute. I know how back problems can go. The PT should help him when he is ready for it. My D.O., using manipulation therapy, sure helped me with my back problems over a year ago. Much better ever since as long as I keep doing the back exercises and walking daily..

More prayers for him.
