The article together with OCA News are starting to clarify in my mind what may be going on there.

Alas! Endorsement or at the least, acceptance of contraception sooner or later is going to lead to acceptance or endorsement of abortion.
I think it's disingenuous for any Church to denounce abortion if it isn't going to denounce contraception as well.
Several years ago I got hold of the monthly parochial publication of a certain Orthodox parish in the DFW area. It urged it's members "to step out of their comfort zone" and volunteer @ a soup kitchen run by one of the downtown Dallas Protestant churches. Big deal. I wrote a note to the pastor of that Orthodox parish, telling him if he REALLY wanted his parishioners "to step out of their comfort zone", he oughtta encourage them to get involved in pro-life activism, like participating in pro-life demonstrations and setting up a crisis pregnancy center.
His silence; his non-response, was deafening.

Brothers and Sisters:
As St. John Chrysostom said, fasting must also include not back-biting the brethren.
Let's pray for His Beatitude, for the OCA, and for all of us. It's Great Lent. Let's recite the Prayer of St. Ephraim until it sinks in I know I've got a "lot of ugly" that I have to look at when I look at my own transgressions, so until I get my own mess cleaned up I need to let others alone.
Anyone else?
Bob
