In the charity of your prayers, please remember the soul of the newly-departed servant of God +Edward Higgins Sr., father of Father Edward Higgins, pastor of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church in Philadelphia, PA. The funeral will take place tomorrow at St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Bayonne, NJ at 10:30AM. May his memory be eternal. Vicnaja jemu pamjat!
This is from the obituary:
" Edward J Higgins, age 90, died March 24, 2011 at Bayonne Medical Center. Born Jan. 5, 1921, a lifelong Bayonne resident, he was the son of the late Grace (Fern) & William Higgins. He retired in 1982 after 30 years with Texas Oil Co. Bayonne. He was a US Army Veteran of WW II.
Beloved husband of the late Marion J. (Stepanik). Devoted father of Rev. Edward Higgins, Jr., Pastor of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, Philadelphia, PA. Dear brother of Mary Albach, and the late James, William, John, Adam Higgins, Jean Sullivan, Grace Marshall & Sarah Jack.
Visitation is Mon. 3-8pm at SWEENEY FUNERAL HOME Bayonne. Parastas Monday evening 7:00pm. Everyone will meet on Tuesday March 29, 2011 at St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, East 26th St. Bayonne for 10:30am Funeral Service. Burial St. Gertrude Cemetery, Rahway, NJ."

Blessed repose and eternal memory.
My maternal grandmother was a Higgins, but I don't know very much about that branch of my family tree.
