Hello,

I read that in the Russian Eastern Orthodox church, there are times when women can not receive Communion (like during their menses). Is this also the case in the Eastern Catholic churches?? what is the Church teaching there? I know that in the West, this rule does not exist, but I was wondering about Eastern Catholics. Please I'm looking for the Church teaching rather than personal opinions, thanks smile God bless!

I remember reading a (heated) discussion on this topic on another forum a couple of years ago, I think.

All I can contribute is that I am Ruthenian Catholic and neither my spiritual father nor my priest have ever told me that I must not approach the Chalice at certain times.

I am, however, interested to learn if other Churches do practice this discipline, and the reasoning behind it.
