I wonder if these South Carolinians are aware of Fr. Titus' new converted Antiochian Orthodox community that is now a Melkite community.

Just as an FYI...
Fr. Conan told me that there are now three Roman parishes in that area. I believe that there is only one priest for each church and that membership for each is reaching 2,000 (not sure if number is actual individuals or households). Apparently, 2,000 is the "limit" as to how large the parish can be (not clear on this). Anywho... because there are only 3 priests, the Roman churches rent out one of the large arenas, which seats 12,000 for one mass on Christmas and one on Easter. They combine clergy, choirs, etc. The Myrtle Beach area has one of the fastest growing Catholic (primarily Roman) communities in the country.
They are expecting about 100 people at the Liturgy next Tuesday, including two RCIA classes. Fr. Conan said the Roman clergy has been very receptive to the Byzantines.

Would anyone care to give some more info on the switch of that Charleston-area community from Antiochian Orthodox to Melkite.
I knew one of the priests who served them while they were Orthodox.

Christine is doing well with us. Her voice is ... wowwww!!! You can definitely tell the difference on the Sundays she is there, and those she is not. Her presence is quite a blessing for our fledgling community. We're getting there - I joined up with them over the summer, and will be chrismated later this month or the next, taking yet another step in my long, long journey from Southern Baptist to Eastern Catholic. I'd be interested to know as well; but until our omnipotent Melkite Neil comes up with the goods as to the circumstances regarding the switch, I guess we're all in the dark!
