From time to time, I hear snippets of news about the Apostolate of St. Nicholas in the BCC. Anyone have any details on this group, its purpose and who runs it? Thanks.

From time to time, I hear snippets of news about the Apostolate of St. Nicholas in the BCC. Anyone have any details on this group, its purpose and who runs it? Thanks. I realize that this question was posted a number of years ago, but if you are watching it, hopefully you will get the reply. We have a St. Nicholas Apostolate in our parish. They have a special Liturgy and prayer service once a month for the sick, followed by a prayer luncheon, and I think they do special little things for the shut-ins in our parish, including Christmas caroling throughout Advent at area nursing homes. One of the ladies was just telling me that they had something like 50 Easter flower deliveries this past week.
We just joined this parish in Oct. 2010 after moving to this area over the summer of 2010. The St. Nicholas Apostolate was one of a number of organizations in our parish that I was interested in finding out more about. I didn't know what it was. A lady who is pretty involved with it gave me a call and explained a lot about what they do. It's a wonderful group, especially if you're in a parish with an aging population as so many Byzantine parishes have. I haven't joined yet because I keep forgetting to make it to their monthly service & meeting. As homeschoolers, time can tend to get away from us here. I am always worried about overcommitting with things so have been slowly getting involved there, kind of pacing myself to make sure I don't get in over my head in our very active parish. The people in the group at our church are really wonderful people, mostly middle-aged or elderly. Very kind, friendly people.
God Bless!
