In another thread, Deacon Paul posted a link to the Eparchy of St George's website and I happened to glance at it - something that I haven't done for quite a while.

http://www.romaniancatholic.org/

It has been vastly expanded since I last saw it and is much better organized than previously. Very nice resource.

Also of note is that the Eparchy lists 2 parishes/missions in Canada. I was unaware that the Eparchy's jurisdiction extended into Canada (still not sure that it does, officially) and thought that the UGCC eparchies were still serving the Romanians there. However, whether official or not, I think it's good that it has taken this initiative.

Many years,

Neil

It was the intention a few years ago for the Bishop to seek to have the 2 countries united in one Eparchy, as has occured in other places like Australia and new Zealand. The approval of the Holy See has been granted for this to take place, after this was requested by the HB the Major Archbishop.

cool

The Romanian parish in Montreal was previously under the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Toronto. The Romanian parish in Toronto was previously under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto.

The official decree transferring the two Romanian parishes in Canada to the jurisdiction of the the Eparchy of St George's in Canton is here (in Latin) [romaniancatholic.org], dated 20 July 2010. The new arrangement seems a clear improvement.

Thank you both for the updated info, I missed that one.

Christ is Risen!

You may want to browse the site of St. Mary's, a parish in the Eparchy of St. George. It's where I attend. http://stmarysbyzantine.com/home

Adevărat a înviat!

Very nice, and, importantly, it is easy to figure out when the Sunday Divine Liturgy is smile

Vito,

Nice site - well worth adding to the 'websites to see' thread. Thank you for the link. St Mary's didn't have a website when I last updated the Romanian parishes in the directory.
