http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/266/iane_kodjanashia.html

this is the site, it has awesome liturgical music, but...

i've listened to several files and I've noticed that they are not Macedonian but come from a different liturgical tradition, that one which says "Ektenija i Kredo" is sung in Romanian, and the Heruvimskaja Pesna sounds Greek to me (yeah it is a chant in modern-slavonic style, but the text is in Greek! I was surprised when I listened to that file, though it is a very good choir).

Hey and most files I can see, are sung in Romanian, and they are presented as Macedonian Chant! I hope the Macedonians don't use to do wink this very often (well, some years ago they presented greek icons in Rome as Macedonian art too!) biggrin

I think this depends on who you consider to be Macedonian. The Greeks in Northern Greece, i.e. around Thessasalonika call themselves Macedonian. The Bulgarians do the same. What is Macedonian iconography? I remember attending Macedonian caravan in Toronto. The dancing was Bulgarian/Serbian and the language was Serbian.

Dear Father:

Yeah it is true, but the site is listed as Macedonian Orthodox Church music, and it appears as if it was Macedonian Orthodox Music.

Errata: I listened to the Cherubic Hymn again, and it is in Romanian, not in Greek. In fact, all the files are Romanian Orthodox Chants, the same that are found in the site of a Romanian parish:

www.biserica.org [biserica.org]

This is why it is strange, isn't it?
