The readings -- including information on the feast, the fasting information of day, any variable parts of the liturgy (troparia, kontakia, hirmoi, etc.), and the story of the feast (synaxarion) have all been available for the iPhone. Just search on iTunes under "Byzantine" or "Melkite" and you'll find our app "Melkite Readings".

I have created a proof-of-concept version of it for the Android. (Only tested on the Galaxy 7" tablet, but should work on the phones as well.)

I was wondering what interest there would be for such an application for Android phones and tables?

Many years,

Neil (who actually doesn't even know if Androids have a built-in calendar, not yet having advanced to that level of technology blush )

Not quite sure what you mean by "Revised Julian". If by that you mean the calendar followed by the Greek and Antiochian Orthodox, where all fixed feasts are feasted according to the Gregorian calendar, and their movable feasts are bound to an Easter date marked by the Julian calendar, then yes. smile

Although, I should add that this year, the Greek and Antiochian Orthodox are celebrating all feasts (fixed and movable) on the same dates as the Churches in the West.

Am happy to provide calendars based wholly on the Julian calendar, but need help knowing what feasts are celebrated when (fixed only). Easter and dependent movable feasts I can already calculate according to the Julian or Gregorian calendars.

That's it!!! The "new" calendar that is utilized in some Orthodox Churches is often refered to as the "Revised Julian" since it places fixed feasts to co-inside with the Gregorian and Pascha and days associated with it on the Julian...

Hey Matt, I just got an LG Optimus. It runs on Android Froyo 2.2. Where can I download the Android version? Or would you like to help you work on refining it?

I would be interested in this app, I just today got an HTC Merge (Android). Are there any other religious apps you would recommend? I have downloaded PilgrimApp and PrayDaily already.

I have published the "Melkite Readings" app with three languages to the Android store: Arabic, English, and Portuguese.

I am having trouble getting the next version, which also offers French, Spanish, and Indonesian.

If you want the former, you can download it now from the store. If you prefer the latter, PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send you the app package.
