His Grace Bishop John (Berzins) of Caracas and South America rules the most restive diocese, that of South America, of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. His Grace spoke to a correspondent from the website Neskuchniy Sad about how the Old Believers in America came to speak English and also how he ministers to Old Believer communities which joined ROCOR in the 1980’s (end of article).

Bishop John was consecrated Bishop in 2008 at the Russian Orthodox Old Rite Church in Erie.

His Grace is spoken very highly of by my friend who is a member of the Old Rite Community in Erie and I can see why; he truly seems like a very holy and intelligent man.

Nice interview. Very informative in all respects.

Many years,

Neil

Interesting. I always thought Erie was the only Old Believer parish in ROCOR's jurisdiction.
