The seminary choir of Blessed Pavel Gojdich Greek Catholic Seminary, Presov, Slovakia, will begin a concert tour throughout the Archeparchy of Pittsburgh, and the Eparchies of Passaic and Parma. Above is a link to a detailed schedule. Like the previous tour done by the Uzhorod Seminary Choir, this tour is being organized by our long-time poster, Reader Jack Figel.

In Christ,
Dn. Robert

Unfortunately it does no appear to have any scheduled performances in NYC---St Mary's would have been ideal or in Connecticut

Unfortunately, the pastor of St Mary's in New York indicated that any evening event was too difficult because of heavy traffic, and the Sunday morning available in the schedule was the day after a large parish wedding; the pastor felt there would be light attendance. We tried.

As for Connecticut, it was a bit out of the way and I wasn't sure we would get a large enough crowd to justify the distance.

Jack, a few days ago I saw there was a stop in Hermitage, but it seems to have been dropped from the schedule. Say it ain't so!

Fr David, yes I'm also sorry we had to substitute Aliquippa for Hermitage in the schedule on October 12. The pastor in Hermitage called and said he and his people would go to Youngstown, since it was so close, rather than host a concert.

It's just not economical to drive or fly much further west than Chicago where we would not attract the crowds to even cover expenses, let alone generate enough donations to benefit the seminary. The churches we do visit average $4000-6000 in donations at each concert!

The website now has the final (as I know it today!) schedule.

Through the offices of my friend, David Mills, the schedule and program for the concert was posted yesterday on the First Things blog First Thoughts [firstthings.com] . I hope this will generate some more visibility.

A number of my friends have expressed disappointment that the tour did not extend into the South or the West Coast, but maybe next time.
