Bishop John accepted the profession of Mother Theodora as a Stavrophore nun.

Photos and video here [newliturgicalmovement.org]

May God grant Mother Theodora many years!

I had asked in the other thread, but nobody answered, maybe somebody on this thread might know. Does anybody know who the other nuns participating in the Liturgy were? Would they be the OCA nuns from NY where Mother Theodora was for a month this year preparing for her profession?

I've been wondering why the new B.C.C. nuns (of Parma) went to the OCA monastery in New York, rather than to the Greek Catholic nuns in Olympia, WA. Anyone know? Just curious.

Ed,

No idea. Hopefully, someone will know.

Rybak,

Maybe the travel expense? Maybe because Olympia belongs to the Romanian Eparchy? (LOL, of course that explanation sidesteps the point that the OCA monastery belongs to another Communion altogether confused )

Many years,

Neil

Kolya,

I see what you mean. If you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, you'll see a heading - something along the line of 'other recent articles' and you'll find Mother's profession linked there.

Ed,

In revisiting the video, I see the two young novice nuns from her community, but then there are two (I think) who are vested in the Schema and assist in vesting Mother (at the outset, they are seen in the second row of pews, behind the 2 young nuns). I'd have to guess that they are from the OCA monastery.

Many years,

Neil

I had asked the same question in that thread, and got the answer when I went to Holy Theophany Monastery in Olympia, WA earlier this month for a retreat. I asked Mother Anastasia, and she said that they had been unable to go because of Sister Serafina's tonsuring on the same feast day (see the photo thread). She told me that the nuns in the video are indeed from Holy Myrrhbearers in NY, where Mother Theodora, Sister Julie, and Jessie spent 3 months this fall. Sorry, I could have posted this in the other thread when I got back, but had forgotten about it.

As to why they chose Holy Myrrhbearers instead of Holy Theophany, I didn't ask.

The pictures posted on the Holy Myrhhbearers site and the site for Christ the Bridegroom both contain pictures of the same nuns at Mother Theodora's Profession/Vesting.
