The Major Archbishop of Blaj of Romanians and the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Patriarch mention only the Pope and none of the other patriarchs, major archbishops or metropolitans of sui-iuris Churches. Actually, based on the Eastern Canon Law they have to mention the Pope!

that's unfortunate, IMO...
but at least they don't have to worry about the order of which church comes first...

The Orthodox patriarchs commemorate each other in a certain ordering.

yes this is the taxis.

I do not believe that the Orthodox patriarchs remember every patriarch and primate of every Orthodox Church at every Divine Liturgy they serve.

I was wondering what the order of commemoration looks like in the Melkite Church, UGCC, or other Greek Catholic Churches for that matter.

The taxis of the Catholic Communion would follow that of the Orthodox communion (with of course the various Patriarchs of Antioch and the like- this throws a monkey wrench into everything).

1. Each Orthodox Patriarch mentions at the Great Entrance ALL the other Patriarchs and primates of the Orthodox Churches. You can check the internet for this. I saw 6 of them celebrating alone, and each mentioned all the others.

2. No, the Eastern Catholic Churches are obliged by the Canon Law to mention the Pope of Rome as to make difference between them and the Orthodox.

Very interesting. I don't see why the Catholic patriarchs would not also commemorate each other in the Great Entrance.

I never said they were not.

The taxis of the Catholic Church is the same as the Orthodox Church in regards to the order of Patriarchs (especially the ancient Patriarchates). If/when the the reunion of the Orthodox and Catholic Churches happen the taxis will not change- since in the Orthodox Church the Pope of Rome holds the first place in the taxis. If/when the Roman Church re-enters communion with the East the Pope will again assume the first place in the Orthodox taxis.

Now how that works is still being worked out in the Catholic/Orthodox dialogue.

I am sure it would remain the same as it is now in a reunion of the East and the West.

Where the real issue comes is how to reconcile the Ancient Patriarchates of Antioch and Alexandria which have different patriarchs. (between Orthodox, Catholic, and Oriental Orthodox)

It's translated "orthodox" in my TLM hand missal. Or did you mean in the Novus Ordo English translation? Yes, there the word "orthodox" isn't used, but I don't know if the original Latin NO uses it either.

BTW, sounds like you serve at Our Saviour. Great parish.
