CBS Sports is reporting that former Penn State University head football Coach Joe Paterno has died from complications of treatment for lung cancer at the age of 85.
O God of spirits and of all flesh,
You have trampled down death
and have abolished
the power of the devil,
giving life to Your world.
Give rest to the soul
of Your departed servant Joseph
in a place of light,
in a place of repose,
in a place of refreshment,
where there is no pain,

His repose has been definitely confirmed. Saturday evening there was uncertainty and story surfaced prematurely, prompting me to begin this thread. 9:25 EST Sunday, according to the Centre Daily Times: Centre Daily Times: Joe Paterno dead at 85 [ centredaily.com] Memory Eternal!

I will remember and pray for the victims, his family, and for the Lord's mercy on him. Amen! May God have mercy on Coach Paterno's soul, and we pray the victims of this unfortunate tragedy be comforted and healed.
