Many Years! Axios! Patriarch Kyrill of Moscow observed his Third Anniversary as Patriarch on February 1, 2012 at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow.
Eis polla eti, Despota!
p.s. You would think that they could get the Patriarch a better car than a 1970's era Soviet Volga? just kidding....
According to my daughter, nobody who is anybody in Russia drives a Russian-made car, so I suspect that the Volga reflects some perverted "buy Russian" impulse on the part of His Beatitude.
maybe they already spent up the money for liturgical apparels. But then again, I don't expect a person like him to use such a car. So unbecoming. Kinda feel sorry for His Beatitude. Even Pat. Bartholomew of Constantinople uses a much better car, IIRC
Btw, the gospel book is very noticably smaller than usual. This one's a modest size, unlike the usual oversized Muscovite style.

I have a beat-up 1989 Honda Civic, which is a better car than anything made in Russia today. I was thinking, though, of trading it in for a slightly newer model. Do you think His Beatitude would like to have it? I'm sure it's got another 100,000 mile in it, at least.
Gosh, I hope the Patriarch of Serbia isn't stuck with a 1978 Yugo. yuck!
Not to fear. I don't think there are any working 1978 Yugos left. So many have been transformed in to planters and other useful things. One should be more respectful of what was, in its day, the cutting edge of Serbo-Croation automotive technology.

....and about as suited for the long term as was the former Yugoslavia...
The Spy Museum in DC recently had a parade of Trabants, East Germany's attempt to build a "people's car". That worked out as well as "people's democracy".
"One day all our ethnic traits ... will have disappeared. Time itself is seeing to this. And so we can not think of our communities as ethnic parishes, ... unless we wish to assure the death of our community."
