While nobody could ever replace Father Serge, I pray that Father Vasyl will be a worthy successor to him in his ministry.

Prayers of thanksgiving for the swift action by Kyr Hlib to meet the pastoral needs of our brethren in Dublin. Prayers also for Father Vasyl, that his trip to Ireland be safe, that his ministry there be blessed, and that the Lord grant him many years in His service to God's people.
Many years,
Neil

I must say Fr.Vasyl and everyone. The Byzantine world is such a small one. hehe, glad to see you here on Byzcath.org and you have my welcoming to Ireland. I hope you enjoy your stay here. You will be speaking Irish in no time ;-)

Welcome, Fr Vasyl. You and I may be the only clergy under Kyr Hlib on byzcath.org.
I expect we shall meet one of these days.
May your time in Ireland be blessed.

Sincerest apologies Subdeacon John! Alas, I could say that with the pending dissolution of the UK, should Scots choose to go it alone, I was thinking along those lines; but then again, you would still be under Kyr Hlib. In the end, I am guilty of forgetting the venerable subdiaconate.

There was no malicious intent in my post.
We will see what happens with the UK and Scotland.
Hi! Nice to meet you.
I just moved to Edinburgh from the USA last June so I don't know too much Gaelic. I enjoy the city but wish there were more parishioners at our church. We had 20 today.

Oh I see. Well the Scottish gaelic as far as I know, is a little different than the Irish one. I dont speak too much either but have some in me from my youth and have recently revisited learning it.
When the EC parish resided in St.kevins Oratory in Dublin, there was about 5 people in it when I first attended. Some Ukrainians and Irish people would drop in but then leave again, that puzzled me a bit, but the late Fr.Serge ( Eternal Memory ) told me that ever since they moved to the Oratory in Clonliffe and changed the times from 4pm to 10am numbers of attending parishners almost doubled and the place was packed.
When I took my son Christian Alexander to be baptised/Chrismated it was packed, you could hardly get a seat, then again he was baptised on the feast of Pentecost and many do travel for the great feasts. Seeing as I live so far away thats what I plan to do, but have for the time being been very sick with anxiety lately so getting to Dublin has proven to be quite difficult. But I hope to be there next Sunday morning.
Rath De ort ( God bless )
Stephen

Actually, I visited Father Serge when his mission was in St. Kevins, back in 2003, and Liturgy was packed--mostly young Ukrainian couples with families, plus a few old timers, and some Irish converts. I estimate they had perhaps 75-100 people in front of the iconostasis.

It's great that there are so many people attending the services. I wish that could be the case here in Edinburgh.
Sometime I will try to make it to Dublin. Ireland is a place I would like to visit. My family comes from Ireland somewhere. My grandpa was surnamed Conboy. His family came over to Canada from Ireland in easrly 19th century.
