Are there any Eastern Catholic churches or Eastern Catholics in Iowa?
I've heard of a new Melkite mission forming in Lincoln, NE., but I don't know if there are any Eastern Catholics in Iowa. Would anyone here know?

Evyenios,
While I'm sure that there are Eastern Catholics there (seems to me that another member here referenced Iowa recently), there are no parishes there and no missions, unless someone has started one in recent months.

There are UGCC parishes in Omaha (Assumption) and Lincoln (St. George), and the Melkite community uses our parish of St. George in Lincoln for the monthly Melkite liturgy. I assist at these UGCC parishes and you can PM me for more specific information. I just put up a very temporary site for St. George at http://stgeorgelincoln.wordpress.com/ and will hopefully also be putting one up for Omaha soon. Deacon Randolph

Deacon Randy,
Be sure that you give me the webaddress for Omaha once you have it.

Evyenios,
To which part of Iowa do you refer? To answer your first question, there are no Eastern Catholic parishes or missions in the state proper. There are Eastern Catholics though. I believe some in Sioux City. There is a family in Waterloo, and my family (between Cedar Rapids and QC). Rumor has it there are more scattered here and there, but they are imports. It's a tad surprising that there are not more, since there are large pockets of Bohies and Slovaks in the eastern part of the state.
In Christ, Adam
