Brothers and sisters, Please pray that I am able to recover my wallet. The loss of the money while a problem, the notifications and changes to all of my other cards, licenses and the like are the real problem. Thank you in advance and God Bless you all. Clem

Dear Clem,
I am glad that I just saw this. I understand what you are feeling--for anyone who has ever lost a wallet, it is not the money that matters, but all the other stuff which involves a great hassle to cancel/replace/report...ARGH!
May St. Anthony intercede to find your wallet, dear Clem. ...
"Dear St. Anthony, please come around. Something's been lost and can't be found."
Lord have mercy!

Prayers to St Anthony (a most powerful intercessor, indeed, for the recovery of things lost), that our brother's wallet be recovered swiftly and that he be neither inconvenienced nor victimized by this event.

Thank you for your prayers, I have not yet located my billfold but have gone through the hoops of notifying all of my creditors, getting new drivers license, ccw permit, and credit cards, etc. It took the entire day yesterday to get this done. I am not giving hope that it will be located or returned, however, it is not looking great. But, I remain ever hopeful that St. Anthony will intercede for me a sinner and assist me. Thank you again for your prayers and kind words. Clem

Our prayers have been answered. Thank God and the prayers of St. Anthony. I was preparing to take my evening shower earlier and when I retrieved my towel from draping over the bi-fold closet door, I glanced up and there it was balanced upon the top edge of the door. I could not believe what I was looking at. There it was sitting there somehow defying mean old Mr. Gravity. It had slipped out of my pocket and managed to stay there rather than fall to the floor. To find the billfold in such an improbable location; it certainly seems to defy reason why it would just sit there. Anyway, I thank God, St. Anthony and of course you Alice and Irish Melkite, thanks again for your prayers.

That will teach you to hang those towels up Sorry to be amused, because I know that the task of replacing everything is a miserable one, but as someone who is himself notorious for misplacing things in not-so-obvious places (to the rolled-eyes of his daughters when they find them and chide him), I couldn't help but laugh sympathetically. Who knew that St Anthony was the patron saint of gravity?

what a relief you must feel about the finding of the errant wallet . I well remember losing my wedding ring [ which was NEVER off my finger until it was cut off after dislocating my elbow ] Eventually after all the swelling was down it was repaired and I once more felt like a married lady until the day I looked down in Church and found there was no ring on my finger !!, We searched the Church , the road outside , took the shower drain apart - no ring , I was distraught . Some 18 months later we had a new ring made in time for a family reunion - I couldn't face my uncle , the head of the family without my ball and chain - it would not have been considered seemly. It turned up some long time after that [ about 5 years I think ] when in 2010 Daughter #1 and I were dismantling a double bed and saw this flash of gold halfway across the bed under the mattress - yup my original wedding ring ! Clem - I think you should do as I did - and offer prayers to St Jude [ patron saint for lost causes ]

I am so glad that you found it! Dear Anhelyna: It seems that your wedding ring was also found in a strange and inexplicable place--I am sorry that you had to wait five years to find it, but as they say: 'better late than never'!

Popular piety associates finding things with St. Anthony of Padua. It is actually St. Anthony the Great whose life makes the connexion to finding things gone astray.

I was pleased to discover the custom of invoking St. Phanourios as well as St. Anthony, when things get lost. I misplace my car keys all the time, for example; and losing my badge & glasses last year was a nasty experience. But I'm not sure which saint one invokes in case you lose your MIND! http://orthodoxwiki.org/PhanouriosI like the part about the phanouropita. Bake one and share it around.
