Diocese approves exorcism prayers at abortion clinic [catholicculture.org]
Quote
The Cincinnati archdiocese has given permission for priests to say prayers of exorcism at an abortion clinic.

Priests involved in 40 Days for Life will say the prayers for “exorcism of locality” outside the Women’s Med Center. In January an abortion clinic in Illinois was closed after priests said the exorcism prayers there.

How are prayers of Exorcism handled in the east? Is there such a formalized set of prayers of exorcism in the east that would complement the western prayers?

Thanks!

There are Exorcism prayers in the Book of Needs but no formalized format like in the Roman Ritual.

If any locales need such prayers, abortuaries are #1. Just going near or past one gives me the creeps.

If my memory serves my right (that's a bit risky) there was a Youtube video posted some time ago on this forum. It shows a huge exorcism event in a Coptic Church by a priest who went from person to person as advocated by the posessed one's sponsors.

The crowd was enormous and Moslems also attend and bring the possessed. I sounded like bedlam, but...what would you expect. The demons were not very happy. The exorcising priest was reputed for the many successful services which he performed.

A few years ago a Tanzanian Lutheran Pastor told me that such healing/exorcism events are also held in his homeland, and that they are the primary means of evangelizing the Muslims.

The Muslims attend and receive healing and deliverance, and return to their villages saying "Jesus healed me---Allah never did anything like that for me."

This is very interesting. Thanks for sharing it, Paster Thomas!

Yes, it is! Though I wonder if the Muslims then seek baptism -- they would be risking their lives if they did so (apostasy from Islam being a capital crime under Sharia) so frankly, I would not blame them if they didn't, but would be overjoyed at their courage if they did.

My Tanzanian contact said that some do.

Sharia was not as widespread in 2003 but it is possible that some converts also received the baptism of blood.
