Hi all. I realize this is an old thread, but I would like to say that it has been eye-opening for me, and quite worth the chunk of time I spent reading it. I realize there may not be many posters who are interested, but I plan to add a thought or too here -- though perhaps not tonight, as it's pretty late.

^^ Sorry about that false start a couple weeks ago.

Here's what happened: at the time I had a little time and energy to spare, and I was going to use it to put together a few thoughts and post them on this thread; then I discovered the related thread "I don't want reunion now" and ended up using my little bit of spare time to read that rather than posting on this one.

If I had still had time, I'm not too sure what I would have posted. Frankly, I find it hard to know what to say to stuff like this:

If you want to know the will of God then we just need to read the NT. and the OT.
The whole point of the Creation story was that God is the author of Creation, he created the whole of created order to be in harmony and not chaos.
Part of redemption by Christ is to bring back all of creation to its sumission to God and the unity of all.
Now it is up to us to begin to submit ourselves to God and onther for the love of Christ.

Reunion of the Church is a simple matter we need to forgive each other and trust the guiding presence of the Holy Spirit. The separation is one of the greatest work of the devil. It is out of human weakness the seven deadly vices that this occurred. It is pride, arrogance and lack of trust in Him that divides us. Very simple if we do not forgive each other we are not forgiven. True forgiveness is forgetting what each other has done. Did not Jesus do this with Peter. If I Love Christ Truly, I love others and forgive. Love is a choice. I Love you, I Love you, I Love you and Forgive YOU! So are ready to Love and forgive? This starts one by one like a new holy fire led by the Holy Spirit.

As we wish our Eastern Christian brothers and sisters on the Old Calendar a Blessed Pascha, we are reminded that a simple step forward could be to rejoice in the risen Lord on the same day!

This year, one week apart - next year, five weeks!

Well, that certainly qualifies as a sin against the Holy Spirit.

But I've never heard of them forcing it on others. It's a Norwegian Lutheran rite of passage.

The Swedes eat this particular fish, too. My grandmother used to make this for Christmas Eve dinner. She served it in a rich cream sauce and it was the one thing I looked forward to year after year. It was nothing like the description that is linked above. It does take about a month to get the dried fish to the point it can be cooked and creamed, though.

Stuart:

Christ is Risen!!

But I loved that "jello salad and green bean casserole." I was never to a post-funeral dinner--or any dinner--at my father's church that those two dishes didn't hold a place or two at the smorgasbord. Funny, I like the jello, but don't like soggy beans in cream of mushroom soup.

If I may just add this,First the Orthodox Churches must unite with each other before they can ever consider unity with any other Eastern Churches, please I know and have seen first hand how selfless many Orthodox Hierarchy are.
They also dislike any Bishops supporting others trying to even start mission programs are never supported. So sad that is why your church will grow by vocations.monasteries and out reach programs to all people.
Pray for Vocations Please that is the answer.Bless you all.
