I am wondering about the authority that a priest has in the East (EC, OO, and EO). I've heard and also had first hand experience in the west of a priest that will give pastoral guidance that doesn't meet the laws of the RC. Then when another priest hears of this they comment on how that priest isn't following the teaching of the Catholic Church. (I hear this over and over again on Catholic Answers (Forum and call-in show).
I can understand if it was something like the priest was teaching that Jesus wasn't God or that murder or abortion was ok. But this wasn't the case...
Anyways how might this be handled in the Eastern churches?
