Metropolitan Stefan Soroka, Fr. Thomas Soroka
Blessed Basil Hopko, Fr. Thomas Hopko
Metropolitan William Skurla, Metropolitan Laurus Skurla

Who else am I missing among the prominent Eastern Catholic and Orthodox clergy who share the same last names? I know that I can count on people in this forum to help in that regard.

I think this is an interesting concept because many times we as Eastern Catholics and Orthodox both act as though our respective lives do not matter. I thank God for speeches such as the one of Met. Nicholas of Blessed Memory, who wrote of the strong connection between ACROD and the Ruthenian Catholic Church. The link for the talk that I have in mind is here: http://www.acrod.org/metropolitan/own-words/homilies/interseminaryencounter2010

The UOC-USA, UOCC, and the UGCC have the longest-running and most regular consultation amongst any Greek Catholic and Orthodox hierarchs. Our hierarchs have celebrated Panakhydas and Molebens together. A summary of the last encounter is here: http://stamforddio.org/n_encounter_ukr_cath_ordx_bishops.html

It should be no surprise as the OCA (and ROCOR for those who did not become part of the Metropolia), the ACROD and the BCC were all formed by people from the same regions and same Rusyn ethnic background.

As I posted earlier today on another thread, the Ruthenian/Rusyns of both ACROD and the BCC speaks to the connection between us and the lack of a national homeland in the old country.

For those who are wondering, I asked relatives of the late Metropolitan Laurus at our parish if they were related to the new Metropolitian William and they didn't think so.

While not all sharing the same name, Metropolitan Theodosius (Lazor), Fr. Paul Lazor and Bishop Robert (Moskal) are cousins.

It is a small world.
