I ask your prayers for little Leo, who is just under a year old, and a member of our parish. He was born with congenital heart disease, and underwent open heart surgery (of about 8 hours) last Tuesday. The operation appeared to be successful, and he seemed to be doing pretty well, although there were a few problems. We learned about 2 hours ago that they have pulled him back into surgery, and it is apparently quite serious. Our pastor is at the hospital now with the family, our whole parish is praying for him, and we would ask those who can to join their prayers with ours - for him, and also for his parents Matt and Jayna, and his 3 year old brother Luke.

sweet Jesus you said suffer not to bring these little ones unto me. We are bringing little Leo, his parents, family, doctors unto you. We ask for your perfect healing for Leo.

Prayers that little Leo's doctors be guided by the Unmercenary Physicians, Cosmas and Damian, that the Lord heal this infant of his disease, and that he granted many long and healthy years.
Prayers also for his Mom and Dad, and his big brother, Luke, that they be comforted and that the Holy Theotokos extend her veil of protection over them in this trying time.
"One day all our ethnic traits ... will have disappeared. Time itself is seeing to this. And so we can not think of our communities as ethnic parishes, ... unless we wish to assure the death of our community."

Thank you so much for joining your prayers to ours. Here's an update on Leo from late yesterday: Leo's surgery went well. There were two significant holes they were able to close. They think there may be a very tiny hole still at the bottom of his heart, but they don't expect it to be an issue. Leo is still pretty sedated, but his vitals are okay and the nurses said he's right where they expect him to be. And from this evening: Just got an update from Matt. Leo is doing well. He's still hooked up to a lot of things, but they were able to take the breathing tube out. He seems to be doing better than he had been before surgery #2, but he's still sleeping quite a bit. He did get to have a little milk today too.

Prayers that little Leo makes it through all of this and is able to live a normal life.
Jehovah Rapha..God heals. Father God, as Jesus has said to bring the little children to him, I ask that this child be given strength, and bless his parents with grace and mercy as they go through this difficult time. In the Name of Jesus Christ, your Son, I pray. Amen.
