Has anyone gone to either the annual pilgrimage at the Mariapoch shrine in Burton Ohio or the Assumption pilgrimage at O.L. of Lebanon shrine near Youngstown? I would like to ideally attend both, but I have 4 children under the age of 7 and I was wondering which event might be more "kid-friendly."

I've been to Mariapocs, Burton three times with my littles. It is all out doors, and never had a problem with the children not being wanted. In past years, they have had activities that are geared for the kids, i am not sure that is the case exactly this year, as the schedule is greatly reduced from ca. 10 years ago.

I've been to the Maronite Pilgrimage a few times and it was wonderful. I did not have children at the time and I can't quite recall if they had anything for them or not, though there were many children around. I once had the privilege of serving the Divine Liturgy with +Metropolitan Basil, of Blessed Memory, and it was a wonderful experience, for the procession afterwards and prayer service two Ukrainian Orthodox deacons served.

I would say that Sayedna Gregory was one of the most genuine, compassionate Bishops I have ever met, he sat in a hallway and talked to me for almost an hour!

Here is a link to the schedule. http://www.ourladyoflebanonshrine.com/AttheShrine/AssumptionPilgrimage.aspx

Thank you for the schedule! It sounds pretty promising, especially since there are hayrides; my country bumpkin kids might like that!

Glory to Jesus Christ!
I have been to the Mariapoch Pilgrimage many times, including the very first one!
I would recommend you and your family attend. There is much open land, and even for the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, many people place themselves on the 'fringe' of the area so that their young children can move around freely.
The weekend is magnificent.
Please let us know of your experience.
Deacon El
