The Bishop’s threat to leave Egypt taps into worries within the Coptic community and the country at large that Copts will leave if Egypt becomes more Islamic. Others are arguing that they have already begun to do this.

I weep for the Copts as I weep for the Chaldeans and Assyrians. There is "weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth." Lord, how long "before you wreak vengeance upon those who kill the brethren?" Mara'natha.

Reading the article it is curious to read about why he thinks it might be time to leave - he's demanding constitutional rights be granted to the COC for legislation.

I've been told during my past visits to Saint Antony Coptic Orthodox Monastery [stantonymonastery.org] in the California desert of the Coptic patriarch's residence moving to the monastery if it becomes necessary.

I agree. I live near a Coptic Orthodox Church here in the Parma area (actually it's in Seven Hills/Independence), but I can tell that there needs to be more support to keep this faith alive. I know friends from high school that go there. Also, I think the Pope of the Coptic Church usually visits up at that church as well.

Our current administration's undaunted support for the so-called Arab Spring is working out really well for our fellow Christians isn't it? We exchange dictators for Islamist radicals. The Maronite Patriarch has called it a "cold winter" for the Christians of the Middle East.

Yet another reason, in my book, for "regime change" at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!
