Hello. My Wife is pregnant again and I was wondering if you could pray for her that she has a safe pregnancy and delivery. Last time she had to have a C-section and I pray that this will not happen again next time around.

God bless and thank you for your prayers

Stephen, you have touched a special place in my heart with your prayer request for your wife. I will definitely pray for her. My first was a c-section, followed by a vbac, followed by 3 more c-sections. I am currently pregnant again and staring down the barrel of my first planned c-section. A good, supportive doctor can go a long way toward avoiding a second c-section. I will also pray that she finds the right doctor, who truly believes in her and in the ability of most women to give birth without excessive intervention.

Congratulations!

Yes she would like to give birth without intervention. I really pray the Lord will bless her with this this year.

May I ask what a Vbac is? I don't believe the doctor discussed with her how to avoid a C-section. I must get her to look into that right away.

My own and families theory was that we allowed the baby to get too big. Our first born Christian was over 10 pounds and a big baby.

Does this have anything to do with it? Again I wouldn't have a clue.

God bless and thank you for your much needed prayers.

Sometimes those babies don't really care what you allow, they are just going to grow big regardless. Size certainly can be a factor, but many, many women do safely give birth to 10 or 11 pound babies. If it is not standard practice in Ireland, make sure your wife is tested for gestational diabetes, which is sometimes the cause of big babies. A vbac, by the way, is a vaginal birth after cesarean, or what your wife is hoping for.

I won't bore the forum members with my rants on obstetrical care in the US (and US practices may or may not apply to your situation), but if you're interested in my opinion on how to best avoid a c-section, you can PM me. I'm not sure how much of an expert I am, though. I have ended up with several in spite of my best efforts. I am well informed on the subject, though. smile
