Where do I get these from at good price?

Only place I can see so far is Holy Mount Athos in Greece.

Just not sure what to buy online as I have no Idea what sizes they have look like in real life.

A very good source is St. Elizabeth the Great Martyr Convent in Minsk, Belarus. This Orthodox community is doing outstanding charitable work and you would support that good work by buying icons from them. Also, the exchange rate is favorable so the painted icons would be more affordable.

I have seen their work and it is quite good!

I have purchased an Icon from this Iconographer

Ikonographics [ikonographics.net]

price was very reasonable and it was despatched , very well packed and very promptly.

It was as a present for my Priest on his 25th Anniversary of his Ordination

Looks very nice. Must I contact her in order to find out how much they cost? Reason I ask is that there is no set price on each Icon, just pictures. And would she do a customized icon of a saint that is perhaps not in her Catalog?

Yes - as price depends on size .

Julia is Orthodox and I'm sure she will do her best to help you - but I'm not sure if she would be happy to write/paint an Icon of someone who is regarded as a purely RC Saint .

whoops. Thats a shame, I have great love for St.Seraphim of Sarov. But I guess I will respect her decision not to of course.

What about Our Lady of Perpetual Help? That is an Eastern Icon shared by both EC and EO is it not? hmmm.

Thanks for the help,

Stephen

I was aware he was an Eastern Saint. I guess the point I was trying to make was ''I have no problem venerating eastern saints but I guess the favor is never always returned but thats ok I respect her decision'' etc etc.

Thank you for you help.

I'm new here, that's why I'm not sure I use the forum properly.

Look through the works of this Iconographer. You can find St.Seraphim of Sarov among them: http://www.flickr.com/photos/icony/

This work was done for me: http://www.flickr.com/photos/icony/7583627722/in/photostream

It's all natural. I like it really!

Artem studied icinography in St. Elizabeth the Great Martyr Convent in Minsk, mantioned above.

He is from my city, that's why I can't give any information about shipping, but I know for sure it's possible.

Our Lady's Slave:

I can't remember if you and I have talked about her before, but are you familiar with Sister Petra Clare? She is up in your part of the world.

But I imagine you knew that already...

Yes - I do know of her and she more or less has a waiting list - Julia's work is stunning and this one was commissioned from Julia at the beginning of September and was almost finished when she went down with 'flu so we lost a week.

I have seen her work 'in the flesh' so-to-speak wink and it is lovely , my GodPapa was very impressed when he saw her Icon of St Gregory the Theologian.

Funny enough I have met the Sisters of St.Elizabeth monastery the other week in my local parish of St.Josephs Redemptorist Church across the road from me. It was a delight to see them there doing their great work for the children and others in need of their charity back home in Belarus. Would love to pay them all a visit sometime.

I've e-mailed Sr.Olga and hope to meet with her in November/December to see what icons she has. Unfortunately the other sister and brother who paid us a visit from Minsk did not bring any with them. So look forward to seeing her when she does arrive ( sr.Olga that is ) as she said she will bring some icons with her for me to take a look at. I'm trying to build an icon corner at the moment of both eastern and western Saints ( although hard to get the western ones ).

Thanks for letting me know about Artem. I must try and find him.

If you have money, there is an outstanding iconographer in Norway named Solrun Nes. See her work here: Icons by Solrun Nes [facebook.com] .

No I found Julia to be too expensive. Anything too expensive for me won't work. I managed to get my icon of St.Paul for a good price at a retail store from 75 euro down to 56 euro. Icon was from Romania so I thought that was a bargain. It's bargains like this I'm after. I like the Idea of buying from St.Elizabeth monastery in Minsk that way I'm supporting a charity also.
