Can I just say that Eastern Catholics and Orthodox have been getting very positive coverage over at New Liturgical Movement [newliturgicalmovement.org] recently.

By 'positive', I mean that Mr Shawn Tribe includes Eastern items and images that set our traditions in proper context, and reveal us simply as one of the historic manifestations of the Church.

This stands in sharp contrast with the way we are sometimes portrayed on strictly Roman Catholic sites, where we can be either ignored, misunderstood, or completely written off.

So to see Eastern liturgical images among the beautiful Western images, and such things as coverage of the re-print of Byzantine Daily Worship, is very encouraging.

If you don't already visit the site, it is well worth your time.

This item caught my eye: Back in Print: Byzantine Daily Worship [newliturgicalmovement.org] .

Good news indeed. I see parishoners at Holy Transfiguration whose ancient copies are literally held together with tape, having seen much use. And I would like to get several copies for my friends.

Stuart,

You didn't need to go to s Latin blog to learn that. Shawn is about a year behind the times on taking note of Alleluia Press' republication of BDW.

It was discussed in a thread here about 10 months ago, shortly after it was reissued.

Many years,

Neil

But to Slavophile's point, the NLM does place an emphasis on authentic Eastern tradition and theology and its proper context in the whole Church. Often they compare and contrast the East and West (mostly Byzantine and Roman); usually it's quite enlightening.

Even more than just focusing on the rites of the Eastern Church, NLM (from what I've read of it) seems to focus on ALL the rites of the Church: besides the various Eastern rites and the main Latin rites (the Tridentine rite and the Novus Ordo), they discuss various older Western rites (such as the Ambrosian, Mozarabic, and Dominican) as well. They seem to have a fantastic grasp on the "unity in diversity" of the Church's liturgical rites.
