The UGCC parish where I serve here in FL is currently without a priest, and it's uncertain how soon Bp. John will be able to provide us with one. The parish is currently under the administration, pro tempore, of Deacon Daniel (some of you know him as ebed melech ), who joined us from NC back in April, and myself. At the same time, we have a mandate from Bp. John to dissolve the corporation that was set up a long time ago to serve as the legal identity of the parish. Some parishioners are worried that this will allow the Bishop to access our parish bank accounts at will. Please pray that we get through this turbulent period, thanks.

I will certainly pray for your parish. I know it must be a very difficult time for all. His Grace Bishop John is a good man and has handled many challenging situations quite well.

My prayers that you will unite in solidarity with Deacon Daniel and accept his leadership as Administrator.
You are more fortunate than most priestless parishes, for you have a deacon to lead.
My prayers that you remain strong and faithful and that your parish take comfort under the Mantle of Our Mother's Protection.

Interesting, I was unaware that there were still parishes in the Greek Catholic side of the fence that had their own charters and parish ownership of the Church property. That was a huge issue in the fracas that resulted in the creation of ACROD. You are in my prayers.

Prayers indeed. I have had to be temporary administrator on a number of occasions in between priestly assignments for several parishes and missions, and know first-hand how those can be times of uncertainty for the faithful. Interesting, I was unaware that there were still parishes in the Greek Catholic side of the fence that had their own charters and parish ownership of the Church property. That was a huge issue in the fracas that resulted in the creation of ACROD. You are in my prayers. Yes, there are quite a few, actually. At two of the parishes I serve now, three of the laity (and not the priest) are the ones who can sign checks at each of those parishes.

We should bring back the Cathedral Chapter and eliminate the "American model" of Church stewardship. The Bishop as "corporation sole" operates without any real checks and balances, and as we have seen, the temptation to abuse diocesan funds is very hard to resist. That's why the Cathedral Chapter was invented in the first place.

Prayers for the parish and its future and prayers for our brothers and friends, Deacons Daniel and Richard, as they lead it through this difficult time.
