Dear Friends,

My younger sister has always been rather sickly. That's not to say she is frail or weak, but she gets sick very often, as has been the case since she was a young girl (my parents attribute it to antibiotics she was put on as an infant...).

She CONSTANTLY has sores and such inside her mouth, on her tongue, cheeks, everywhere basically....the doctor even removed her uvula a couple of months ago hoping that would help. As it turns out she is still getting sick, with ulcers so large the doctor sent one in for a biopsy just last week. We aren't expecting the worst (cancer) or anything like that, but it is a real possibility that my sister is "immunodeficient" in some way. The doctors are working on trying to establish this and see what can be done.

My sister Kate is often in pain and feels good not nearly often enough for a girl her age who should be feeling well enough to focus on studies and friends. Please pray for her if you get a minute.

In Christ,
Alexis

Dear Alexis,

May God bless you for your brotherly concern for your younger sister!

I will pray for Kate with all my heart... May our Lord hear our prayers for her health.

In the meantime, please have her and your parents also look into any research they can on this condition and what natural and/or additional things (foods, vitamins, probiotics, etc.) which can help her or which might actually be making her worse (food allergies which affect the gut, for instance, and from there the entire immune system)...There is such a wealth of knowledge these days at our fingertips with search engines. In searching they may also find forums on this medical condition, with others that may share the same problems, and who many times also share their tips, advice, solutions and findings as well.

May the Lord enlighten and grant healing for Kate!
Lord have mercy!

With love in Christ,
Alice

I'm never more deeply touched than when our prayers are asked for a young person who has been touched by illness - and, sloppily sentimental as it may sound, as Dad to my own Kate, I'm the more affected by reading of this young girl's suffering.

Prayers for Kate, the sister of our dear friend and brother, Garrett, that her doctors be guided by the Holy Unmercenary Physicians, Cosmas and Damian, in her diagnosis and treatment, that she be cured of these distressing maladies, that she be fully restored to the joys and pleasures and everyday adventures of these very special formative years, and that God grant her many more years in health and happiness.
